«God gives a family to those who were abandoned»
Psalms 68 : 7
The Soavina orphanage was legally begun in the town of Toliara 29 August 2006 under the reference 029/MPPSL/SG/DIRPPSL-U, in accordance with the certificate issued by the Ministry of the Population, Social Protection, and Leisure of Madagascar.
Toliara is the provincial capital of the southern and south -western part of Madagascar. It is one of the areas where contrast between the richness of its natural resources and the poverty of its population seems to be most obvious.
At any rate, Toliara is one of the most beautiful areas of Madagascar and is classified as the second tourist destination of this island-continent. Unfortunately, it is one of the areas where the number of orphans or abandoned children seems to be the highest.
The Soavina orphanage was created by the association CEMI/DES (Center of Evangelization and Social Mutual Aid) to face this plague. This Center established in the town of Toliara for more than 20 years, is familiar with social work, without being given the opportunity to get subsidies from any national or international organizations. The Center tries to provide for its needs by its own means. A department called Lazaristes deals with the beggars since 1980.
The idea to found an orphanage came very late due to the absence of an adequate structure to manage it. Since the number of the orphans and abandoned children continues to grow each day, the CEMI/DES took the initiative to launch this work.
